New Music (sort of) :David Vandervelde

Man, sometimes you just miss the bus. I missed the bus big time on this one. How this gem managed to stay off my radar completely in the six months since it’s been released I’ll never know. Since I raved about David Vandervelde‘s live show from Monday night I thought it was only right to let you all have a taste. The Moonhouse Station Band was recorded over a two year period at Jay Bennet‘s (ex-Wilco) Chicago studio on much of the same equipment as Wilco‘s Summerteeth and Being There. The resulting record is part glam rock ala T.Rex or David Bowie and part melodic pop reminiscient of George Harrison or Matthew Sweet‘s best work. An addicting sugar rush of sound that’ll have you coming back for more.
