So Bad, It’s Good (well maybe)

So for all you folks that are tired of all the “best of” lists floating around this time of year, I thought I’d give you a bit of a respite from hearing about Joanna Newsom, TV On The Radio, or The Decemberists one more time. I’ve selected a few songs for you from this gem of an album I recently came across. It’s on a label called Madacy Records which form what I can tell is very similar to the infamous K-Tel records in its output. At first glance it looks like a decent compilation of all those 70’s AM radio classics everyone loves to hate, or loves to love, depending on your preference. But, what makes this beauty extra special, although you can barely read it in the lower left hand corner on the cover art above, is the phrase “New stereo recordings by the original artists”. This baby was put together in 2004, almost 30 years after many of these songs were originally released. Let’s just say not all of the artists have weathered the years so well. So take your mind off of all the countdowns and spend the next few days trying to get these unstuck from your mind, by then it will be 2007, a new year, with plenty of new music to look forward to. Enjoy.
