Wrapping it all up today sort of where I started it this year, with something a little off the beaten path. Hope you’ve enjoyed it and heard something you enjoyed and maybe found a new favorite. Thanks to everyone who’s been reading along, commenting and emailing. Christmas is all about sharing good times with yout family and firends so in addition to today’s pick here’s links to some more holiday tunes from a few of the friends of Bag Of Songs. Heather has her 2009 Christmas mix up at I Am Fuel Your Are Friends, The Duke at The Late Greats has quite a few songs, Emma has a Holiday Music Extravaganza over at The World In A Paper Cup, Carly and Girl About Town have a great holiday song from The Sky Drops, and Teenage Kicks sends their Christmas Wishes along with a song from Ike Reilly.
On the home stretch of our daily Christmas song series, going all the way to Sweden for today’s pick from the girls of Twiggy Frostbite, Elin Lindfors on vocals and percussion, AnnaKarin Berglund on keyboards and percussion and Emma Sjöberg on bass and percussion . Lanterns And Stars perfectly evokes the feeling of crisp winter peaceful quiet that seems to magically appear in the late night hours of Christmas Eve. Hope your Christmas Eve finds you where you want to be today.
Inspired my inability to get the song of the day up timely the last few days, here’s a few versions of The Chipmunks Christmas classic, Christmas Don’t Be Late. A brand new version from Twilight Soundtrack darlings, Hurricane Bells and a live version by Jim James of My Morning Jacket form Lollapalooza 2007. Only two more days to go until Christmas but don’t fret, there’s still the best live shows of the year, the top 25 albums,my picks to watch for 2010 and more still to come so stay tuned.

A special holiday song for you today with some Philadelphia flavor to it. It’s from the Blood Feathers, who are the first band on the brand new Philebrity record label, with their excellent record Goodness, Gracious which is currently available on iTunes, and is coming soon on CD and vinyl in the new year.
Watch for it.
One for the shortest day of the holiday season and of the year from Philadelphia’s own Hoots And Hellmouth. Back in the long warm days of summer they released one of the great records of the year, The Holy Open Secret. A perfect choice to mark the turning point as we head back into those longer hours of sunlight each day.
Not really a holiday song I suppose, but since I spent the bulk of yesterday digging out from under the big east coast blizzard, here’s one in honor of the snow day many people experienced yesterday or today
Wherever you may be travelling during this week leading up to Christmas, head home safely, especially if you happen to be stuck on the snow bound eastern US. Sitting here, stuck in a hotel room for the weekend thinking about all of the things I want to do when I get home. Here’s Snow Patrol waxing poetic about what they’ll do. Happy holidays everyone !

Running way late today, so, no words, just pictures and music. look. listen. enjoy.
Puppet Show AND Power Salad. Everyone likes a good chuckle once in a while, so here’s some holiday silliness from the band Power Salad. Here’s the story : Santa decides to get with the times, and as lazy as the rest of us, and thinks he can really cover alllll the good little boys and girls, in the whole world, in one night……by shopping on the Internet.
Lyrics, video and puppet show by Craig Marks. Susie played by Abby Marks. Children’s choir sung by Marissa Mezzolesta. Music, arrangements, recording and production, all male voices, Halion Symphonic Orchestra, upright bass, paint stirrers, sopranino recorder, soprano recorder, alto recorder, tenor recorder, and bass recorder by Chris Mezzolesta.
A stripped down post today because I’m working from a mac laptop in a hotel room , and since I’m basically mac challenged(I’m a PC person and can’t figure out how to do half the things I want to on this thing). Here’s a new holiday song from former Philly fave now Brooklyn band, power poppers The Canon Logic. Hopefully this link will work, if not I’ll repost tomorrow (Link Updated) when I have access to my PC back. Rock on.
